There's a scary amount of things to do in Rotherham this October which icludes half term and Halloween!

For film fans
Adventure Cinema, the UK's No.1 outdoor cinema shows, are back at Wentworth Woodhouse for Halloween. Bring a blanket or camping chair, wrap up warm, and watch 90s classic, Scream, on a giant cinema screen under the stars on October 17. Or choose a spooktacular Halloween open-air screening of the Disney classic Hocus Pocus on October 18 or Tim Burton's classic, The Nightmare Before Christmas, on October 19. Fancy dress is encouraged!

In October, Arc Cinema at Forge Island in Rotherham enters spooky season with Halloween-themed films for its Kids Club which offers special prices and llam screening times. Disney's Coco is on October 26 and on October 18 and 19 families can enter Hotel Transylvania.
Other themed showings include Bat Out Of Hell The Musical as part of Arc Live! plus Final Destination: Bloodlines, Hocus Pocus, The Conjuring: Last Rites, all three Twilight movies and the 2025 horror release, Weapons.

Fright Fiesta
Rotherham's family theme park, Gulliver's Valley has freaky festivities as part of a lively, festival-style atmosphere brimming with colour, costumes, and music. Full of fun and surprises, a fabulous day out with friendly frights and eerie encounters. You can face your fear an meet tarantulas, visit the sooky Monster Mansion and meet some friendly monsters and even stay the night by booking a stay and play adventure.

Screamtime
Wicked witches and ghastly ghouls will be taking over Wentworth Woodhouse in Rotherham. Taking place between October 20 2025 and November 2 2025, Screamtime is strictly for the bold – aged 15 years and over and the experience takes approximately 40-60 minutes to complete, if you make it out! Also taking place is Spookytime, a family-friendly, interactive Halloween trail for ages 7+. Perfect for the little monsters the experience also lasts around 40–60 minutes, but the chills and giggles will haunt you long after you leave!

Visitors to Magna in Rotherham during half term can expect a host of interactive activities for young ones to get involved in, including craft workshops, live shows, and the chance to enter Magna’s Halloween fancy dress competition.

Rotherham Civic Theatre is getting into the spirit of the season with the Wickersley Youngsters new musical comedy version of The Addams Family - a comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family, features an original story and it’s every father’s nightmare.

Rave diggers
High profile dance events are taking place in Rotherham this October. FearFest is back at Magna for the 13th time on October 31 and Hooton Lodge Farm hosts a family-friendly dance festival with We Like to Party's Halloween Special on October 25.
Talking strange
Grimm & Co. in Rotherham hosts local author Craig Hallam as he shares folklore about the mysterious Black Dog in tales from across Yorkshire, featuring an extract from his new release, Shuck.
The innovative literacy charity is also hosting events for kids during half term including potion making, creepy cupcake decorating and a spooky disco.
