Originally created in 2008 as part of a Heritage Lottery Funded project, the waterplay in Clifton Park has been a firm favourite among children and families for the last 15 years.
The new £900,000 facility reopened last year and includes enhanced safety standards and modern, interactive equipment, aimed at encouraging imaginative and active play. Improved accessibility ensures all children can enjoy the space, which will encourage learning about water conservation and the environment.
It is now open for 2026, and free to use, on weekends and school holidays until the end of September.
With a maximum capacity of 600 people, it is thought to be the largest free-to-use attraction of its kind in the country.
Rotherham Council is reminding users that entry is free during our normal operating hours but every person — including spectators — must have a wristband to enter the Watersplash area. Wristbands are available from 10:30am on the day at the Watersplash kiosk and can be collected for any session that day.
Three sessions per day are scheduled - 11:00am – 12:30pm, 1:00pm – 2:30pm, and 3:00pm – 5:00pm.
Wristbands were introduced due to busy periods and demand last year. There is currently no online booking system.
The watersplash area is also available for private hire for parties, schools or groups.
Free access to the outdoor play areas at the Templeborough attraction (Aqua-Tek and Sci-Tek) are included in the annual pass tickets. When you buy a full price day pass to Magna you can upgrade to an annual pass free of charge.
Water is the theme of Magna's "Splash, Pop and Play" events next month which includes The World of Water Workshop on May 2 - 4 and a Bubble Wand Making Station every weekend in May.
