For many of the nation's best swimmers. attention is turning to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, but for those that enjoy the challenge of the open water, attention turns to Rotherham.

This weekend, Rother Valley Country Park in Rotherham is again hosting the Swim England Open Water National Championships.

Taking place across the popular destination's stunning lakes, the championships will showcase the very best open water athletes alongside experienced Masters swimmers competing for national titles. From rising stars to seasoned competitors, this event promises a fantastic day of racing in a unique open water setting.

On Saturday July 25, the Swim England Open Water National Age Group Championships is the premiere competition for young open water swimmers in England. You can expect the finest young open water swimmers in the country and future Olympians honing their skills.

On Sunday July 26, the Swim England Open Water National Masters Championships is the best chance for club Masters swimmers (aged 18+) to gain bragging rights as the best open water swimmers in the country.

Race distances range from 3km to 7.5km depending on age category and championship class.

Apart from the championships, the only authorised open water swimming at Rother Valley Country Park is through Sheffield Triathlon Club on main lake on Saturday mornings 8.30am which has specific water safety cover and you must be a member of the club to take part.
