Global DJ icon set to play new Rotherham dance event

A popular UK-based clubbing brand known for its hard house and trance events has scheduled a return to Rotherham with an event next year headlined by a genuine titan of trance.

Insomniacz was at the forefront of afterhours clubbing in the UK, bringing top DJs to Sheffield in the late 90's and 2000s. The organisers gained a passionate following and grew to put on some fondly remembered large scale events in the unique space at the Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham.

After more than a decade away from Magna, Insomniacz returns with "Trancemitta" with huge sound, immersive production, lighting and lasers which promoters say is "the first chapter of a new global trance event."

Headlining the event on January 30 2027 is Paul Van Dyk.

A true pioneer of electronic music, and voted two-time No. 1 DJ in the world, Grammy-nominated legend Paul van Dyk delivers unforgettable, euphoric trance sets that continue to ignite dance floors across the globe.

As well as producing and remixing songs, and working on film scores and advertisements, the man behind the trance classic, "For An Angel" has recently been developing immersive live shows and continues to tour the world. He is scheduled to play a three hour extended set at Trancemitta in Rotherham.

It is not the first time that "PvD" has played Magna, the former Gatecrasher resident was the headline act for the Sheffield superclub's 14th birthday party at the extraordinary industrial venue in 2007.


For Insomniacz, Magna hosted the 2009 reunion for the brand and a number of events in subsequent years including an emotional tribute to Tony De Vit.

Tom Muir, the promoter behind these massive events told the Hard House History podcast last year that it took him four or five years to put an event on again. "I just couldn't bring myself to do it" such was the emotion felt on the night.

Since then Insomniacz has come back with events up and down the UK and in Ibiza. It is a brand that carries an enormous amount of nostalgia for good times and banging music. The younger generation are also discovering the hard house sound for the first time.

The line up for the 3pm - 12am Trancemitta: First Contact event - Paul Van Dyk, Sander van Doorn, Craig Connelly, David Forbes, Amy Wiles, Leonie.
