Things to do in Rotherham this Easter

The clocks have gone forward and the kids are off school so here's Visit Rotherham's recommendations for the Easter holidays. Places to go, things to do...

Rotherham's big hitters always put on something special for the school holidays. At Gulliver's Valley there are an array of colourful events led by the Easter Bunny and Candy Crew. Discover Lollipop Trees, Colossal Candy Canes and take some Sweet Selfies along the way, with a chance to win fantastic spring surprises! Gulliver's Valley is open every day during the Spring Spectacular which runs from March 28 to April 12.

Magna are blending science with creativity to delve into the exciting world of engineering and invention, through family-friendly workshops, exciting shows and hands-on learning. Running from March 28 to April 19, Easter egg-ineering at Magna includes Kids Invent Stuff Present: The Invention Show, the Magna Science Show and more themed Easter activities. To help get you there, the new tram-train stop also opens to the public on April 9.

Wentworth Woodhouse has family-filled fun in the Gardens from March 28 to April 12, including the Rockingham Rabbit Trail and the Activity Cabin as well as the the Forest of Bewilderment natural play area and picnic spot.

At the Tropical Butterfly House Wildlife Conservation Park, the Easter theme continues with the Springtime Stamper Trail and a brand-new indoor Bunny Burrow hideaway.

At Forge Island in Rotherham town centre, egg-citing Easter films are on show at the Arc Cinema. Family films include The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, The Magic Faraway Tree, Bluey at the Cinema and Hoppers. Fans can even meet Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach on Friday April 3.

At the Civic Theatre, Sooty is back and there are other family shows including Olaf Falafel’s Stupidest Super Stupid Show and Dinosaur Adventure Live - Danger on T Rex Mountain.

Getting out and about, an Easter Trail has been organised around Manvers Lake and the water splash is reopening at Clifton Park where the Rotherham District Civic Society also return with their free guided walks.

For the little ones, Bright Stars Play Space has baby Easter sensory on April 2 and tot and toddler Easter sensory on April 3.

Sports fans can enjoy Rotherham United v Stevenage (a friends for a fiver game), Rotherham United v Barnsley and Rotherham Titans v Rams - expect titanic battles at both ends of the respective tables.
