Gulliver’s Valley welcomes new litter of prairie dog pups to Valley Wildlife!

Families visiting Valley Wildlife in Gulliver’s Valley Theme Park should prepare for an overload of cuteness following the birth of a litter of prairie dogs.

The five pups were born in the last few weeks and have taken centre stage at Valley Wildlife to the delight of visitors.

Prairie dogs are herbivorous burrowing animals that were once widespread throughout North America, covering more than 100 million hectares - twice the size of Greenland!

They are closely related to ground squirrels and chipmunks, although they are a bit bigger, and live in tight-knit, territorial family units called coteries or clans.

The pups are getting more confident every day and venturing further out into their outdoor enclosure, with plenty of support and encouragement from their mum, Betty.

Phil Bracegirdle, resort manager at Gulliver’s Valley, said: “Everyone at the park has fallen in love with the pups which means we now have a seven-strong family of lovely prairie dogs at Valley Wildlife. They are adorable and have been an instant hit with families, particularly youngsters. We’re sure they will play a major role in ensuring a busy summer ahead!”

Valley Wildlife is a family-run zoo set within Gulliver’s Valley Resort and is home to more than 40 different species, including bearded dragons, black nose sheep, blue iguanas, meerkats, and Brutus the armadillo.

Perfect for families, school groups or anyone looking to meet some awesome animals, Valley Wildlife offers engaging animal experiences for all ages.

Entry to Valley Wildlife is free for Gulliver’s Valley ticket holders.

Gulliver’s Valley is home to 50+ rides and attractions, including the Gyrosaur - one of the park’s most daring rides - in the Lost World area, the thrilling rapids ride Apache Falls in Western World, and Grand Prix Racers, a rollercoaster with terrific twists and turns.

If want to make sure you have plenty of time to see everything on offer, including Valley Wildlife, why not book in for an overnight stay in one of the cool accommodation options which the kids are sure to love, such as Unicorn and Princess Suites, Pirate Lodges, Captain’s Dens, and Lost World Lodges.
