Big Screen Summer in Rotherham town centre

Live Test cricket and a selection of family films are set to be shown in Rotherham town centre as a giant screen pops up for the summer.

Over the next two weeks, Snail Yard on the High Street will be transformed into a free entertainment hub in a Rotherham Council initiative.

On Wednesday August 19 and Thursday August 20, visit the town centre for live coverage of England's Test match against Pakistan from Headingley (11am-6pm) alongside cricket-themed walkabouts and refreshments at the pop-up bar.

On Saturday August 22, Guild Of Games will be hosting a gaming tournament. The High Street store specialises in trading cards, board games and video games.

On Friday August 21 film fans can enjoy the ABBA jukebox musical romantic comedy Mamma Mia.

Tuesday August 25 its time for Matilda The Musical - the updated Roald Dahl classic about Matilda, an intelligent, telekinetic young bookworm.

Everything is awesome on Wednesday August 26 with Emmet's brick-tastic adventure in The Lego Movie.

On Thursday August 27 the famous Muppets join a young boy on a wild sea voyage to find hidden pirate gold in Muppet Treasure Island.

Film screenings are from 2:30pm-4:15pm and Snail Yard will open at 2pm.
