Sitting within the authority's Culture, Sport and Tourism service area, the team will work across Museums, Major Events, Sports Development, Parks and Green Spaces, Libraries, Rotherham Civic Theatre and Rotherham Music to deliver ambitious, inclusive and transformative cultural programmes.
The job advert explains: "Rotherham is building on the momentum of Children’s Capital of Culture and investing in a bold new Cultural Development Team.
"Culture is everywhere in Rotherham — in schools, parks, libraries, theatres, community centres and neighbourhoods. The Cultural Development Team will help shape a cultural system that is vibrant, connected and proudly Rotherham.
"We’re looking for an experienced, imaginative and strategically minded Cultural Development Manager to help shape the borough’s cultural future — driving major consortium programmes, sector‑wide evaluation frameworks, creative learning, fundraising, and legacy projects that make a lasting difference."
It follows on from the council approving a budget of over £500,000 for events in this financial financial year, backing it's ambition for Rotherham to be the best it can, by making sure as many people as possible who live in Rotherham can take part in high quality cultural, leisure and sporting activities.
Recruitment is underway for a Cultural Development Manager, a Fundraising Manager - Arts, Culture & Learning, a Fundraising Manager - Heritage, Nature & Skills and a Cultural Development Projects Officer.
Roles are full time fixed term for 12 months with the closing date for applications being September 27.
As the world’s first Children’s Capital of Culture in 2025, Rotherham has been redefining how creativity, civic purpose and collaboration can be shaped by children and young people. It has led to a number of high profile events taking place in Rotherham town centre and across the borough.
Earlier this year, Visit Rotherham reported that Rotherham has been named by the Government as a Culture Priority Place, which should lead to further investment in the arts.
And in July, Visit Rotherham reported that, from nearly 400 bids, Rotherham has been shortlisted to become the UK's first Town of Culture.
