Power up your half-term with Plug In & Play in Rotherham town centre.
A collaboration between the National Videogame Museum and Children’s Capital of Culture, the second Plug In & Play Festival will take place during October half-term 2025. Activities are taking place in the town centre and at venues included Clifton Park Museum, Forge Island and Boston Castle.
Inspired by video games, Plug In & Play encourages children and families to play interactive, immersive and engaging games.
This year it will be four-day series of side quests and fringe events, building up to a mega one-day games trail finale - "The Final Level" starting in All Saints Square on 31 October. Visitors can explore a world of digital and electronic arts and play games, make music and experience activities created by artists and tech experts.
Also on Friday, you can grab a map from and go on a journey of competitive challenges and real-life video games. Made by games developers working with Rotherham’s young minds! Play frogger in Rotherham Minster, explore new tabletop role play games created by Saturday Club members at Grimm & co. and enjoy Street Pixel, a magical interactive paving system, on Forge Island.
Look out for Rotherham United's E-Sports gaming bus on Wednesday, a Mario Kart Tournament and the Guild of Games on the High Street on Monday and various workshops at Clifton Park including help with text-based games and making music with a Nintendo Game Boy.
On the weekend of November 1 and 2, the Arc Cinema is showing Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.
