Earlier this month teams took to the water at Manvers Lake in a bid to win bragging rights, and raise vital funds for Sheffield Children's Hospital Charity.
Manvers Lake in Rotherham is a hidden gem which offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life, providing a perfect spot for relaxation, leisure, and outdoor activities. It was created in the 1990's as part of the remediation works following the closure of the Wath Main & Manvers Main colliery complex and associated railway yards.
Theo’s Dragon Boat Race 2025 is one of a number of similar events hosted at the site.
Dragon Boats are large canoe-like vessels fitted with ornately carved dragon's heads and tails. The team-based paddling sport has its origins in ancient China.
Teams of 17 worked together to comepete for Theo’s Dragon Boat Race trophy. This year's event was won by "Team Nick" - the second consecutive victory for the team.
The Just Giving page shows that £7,321 has been raised so far of £10,000 target.
A spokesperson for the charity said: "From hospital and university staff, to families and corporate colleagues, every team helped to make today incredibly special.
"We were also delighted to see how many people came along to cheer today, and thank you to everyone who contributed to the wonderful atmosphere."
The next dragon boat race at Manvers Lake is the Bluebell Wood Dragon Boat Race & Family Fun Day on July 12.
